Vote for the Squirrel E-mail
by ToKre | English | Tuesday, 15 April 2008

We try to pick out the rare fantastic websites - every week a new website put on show. This week: How to ... argh ... whatever.

The Eichhörnchen will make it!
The Eichhörnchen will make it!
E
lections have always been a big deal. Even more in the US and A. Explaining the whole voting system in this article wouldn't work nor shall it be the purpose of it. Actually, who does even care about it? Well, one could argue that knowing about the electoral system of other countries gives people the ability to judge on their own systems a little bit better and; thereby, enables them to act responsibly as young and educated democrats.

First rule: Eating while talking.
Frist rule: Eating while talking.
To cut a long story short, there are basically two main parties in the US, the Democratic and the Republican Party. After the pre-elections on which nominee is going to be put in the race for either party, the people of each state practically elect their favorite party and send an electoral college to vote for the favored candidate. Explaining the whole system would take a couple of pages and even most Americans, no offense, don't even know how it works.

However, there are more than just the two parties mentioned above. Of course, they don't even stand a chance against the billions of dollars or the celebrity wing men and women of the main parties; however, they do have a political program and a message that they try to spread. At least, most of them do. Others don't even care.

Second rule: Mancure while talking.
Second rule: Mancure while talking.
While the Democratic Party's mascot is a donkey and the Republicans are always associated with an elephant, the Apathy Party (AP) has designated a squirrel to represent itself, mascot-vise. However, whatever. The AP does have a message but who cares? They choose not to choose and do this with a lot of satire and first and foremost tongue in cheek - keep that in mind when visiting the website and then, forget about it - whatever.
