Ladies and Gentlemen, the News Network Headlines: German student demonstrates Old Europe's dominance in special Cross Country category.

H
i again, tataa, I am back.
To get to know people of Bradford, I and my Swedish host sister joined the Cross Country Team and Marching Band. In Cross Country we meet daily and run three miles. Sounds pretty boring, was pretty boring, but hey, I didn't have to worry about gaining weight. That came later ... but about that the next time. Because I had no other talent I started playing the Xylophone and symbols in Marching Band.

Flush.
Flush.
The summer was really hot and so both, CC (Cross Country) and MB (Marching Band) were extremely exhausting. All new people we met were absolutely nice, even though I didn't remember all their names. There were Haily, Kathlyn, Amy, Josh (didn't know that Josh was his name till January), Sean, Mac, Rachel (didn't know her either for a long time), host sister Cecilia, little boy (heck, what's his name again), Tylor, Dan, Bizzle, Jacob, Siobhan, Sophie, Holly, Zach, Steph, Erin, Carlotta (Italian exchange student), Liz, Ashley, and J.D.. I'm pretty sure I forgot at least two, but whatevs? When school started after the summer holidays, we had weekly CC meets and MB competitions. To get a little bit more practice we performed our MB show at the football field every Friday evening when our lousy football players had a game.

They sucked so badly! We lost every game, but one. It amazed me, we still had school spirit! Lots of people showed up at the games to support their Bradforder kids. We cheered as much as the cheerleaders or even more! BLACK ORANGE WHITE!!! YEAAAH! RAILROADERS!! YEAAAH! Oh, I didn't mention it yet, but our mascot is a railroader. While other schools have panthers and bears and wolves or at least squirrels, we got a railroader (these ones who went on strike in Germany). Lets go back to talk about the CC meets.

Not me, hahaha!
Not me, hahaha!
Teams from everywhere came and put their fastest, skinniest and long legiest (hehe) in the race. And I just tried not to stop and walk during the race! You can't image how it feels to run three miles in the sun till you did it. And I did it! My best time is 29 minutes and 30 seconds! I think that's great, I started with 32 minutes and look where I got! The two coolest adventures happened at the same place, at different days and meets however. The first time I saw the path we had to run I was shocked. There was actually a river we had to cross! It didn't seem very deep or wide (not more than three meters) but it wasn't very homey either. So we all started the race, I ran my way, greeted a cow on the sidewalk and tried not to step in animal poop. And then it came ... the river! And of course there were a lot of people around it on both sides! Don't think about it, I told myself and jumped into the muddy water. The crowd applauded and I crossed through. It wasn't actually that bad because the cool water refreshed me and I ran like the wind. A slow wind, but a wind!

Good bye, lovely sneaker.
Good bye, lovely sneaker.
The next time we went to that place I just had got new running shoes. Before that I used my pretty expensive and now brown-gray Adidas shoes. Lucky me since this time I lost my right shoe in the water and couldn't find it. I tried to catch it when I felt that my shoe was flipping away but it was too late. So I sprinted out of the water and yelled at my coach that I lost my shoe. He should go fishing, while I was going to finish the race. You can't run with only one shoe, so I took my second one of, too, and ran in socks, better then ever to end what I started. Everybody looked at my feet when I came along and I just smiled. Unfortunately they never found my right shoe ... Rest in peace, little shoe.

That's gonna be the end of my story for today.
