D
o you have what it takes to become an officer in the Swedish Armed Forces? Who knows?

Using today's webtip, you may find out about it. Unfortunately, even if you passed the test successfully you still needed the Swedish citizenship in order to become employed.
Anyways, the results brought to light in this test are not taken into consideration in case you actually are Swedish and wanted to apply for the Försvarsmakten. However, this whole thing is a lot of fun and it also gives you good reasons for the set up of the various testing situations.
A test of various abilities
Women are said to be better at that - I doubt it though.

It all starts off with multitasking. You have to hold a red ball inside a moving half circle while paying attention to the differently colored balls on the left-hand side and simultaneously solving mathematical equations. Sounds complex? Boy, it sure is. Every time the red ball leaves the white area, your answer to the math problem is incorrect or you do any other mistake, your status bar goes down. Goal is, to survive as long as possible.

The second section is about imagination, geometrical knowledge and the ability to think three-dimensionally. From an open grid of a dice with various symbols on it, you have to decide for the given correct 3D cube. Tough job if time is running against you but it wouldn't be any different if you were standing in a battlefield and had to read a map, right?

I suck at this game - real bad.

Next, it's all about memory. First, you visual memory is tested by displaying six symbols of different colors. Then, some of the symbols are flipped upside down and you have to click on them in a given order. Obviously, being an officer you will have to remember orders given to you without writing them down. In order, to test this ability a code of numbers is given verbally, afterwards you have to put the exact code in via your keyboard. Just to make it a little more interesting, step two of this task is, to enter the given code in reverse order. Believe me; this doesn't make it any easier.
Go for it - you might use it in daily liveThe last section of the test is on concentration. It is evaluated by displaying a letter grid in which you have to search for and highlight a given word. Knowing this kind of thing from school and crossword game sections of magazines, it isn't too hard. However, the very last part is pretty demanding. Since it is as hard to describe it as it is to actually do it, I'll just let you find out about it for yourself. Just a little hint here - it is about balance and concentration.

As these tests aren't scientific, they are still a nice break from daily work or the preparation for an exam. In addition to that, you get an instant insight into what an officer in the armed forces has to do while you can train some of the most important abilities of daily live just as memory and multitasking.

My glorious results - call me Colonel and salute next time you meet me.
