We try to pick out the rare fantastic websites - every week a new website put on show. This week: How to broadcast yourself.
O
nce upon a time, I said I was never going to put individuals on the spot in my webtips. Well, forget about that. I already dodged that rule when presenting Karl Fritsch's homepage but I think we can all agree on the worthiness of this more or less brilliant piece of ... ehm ... art.
Let's just hope that little guy grows up and becomes rich.
This time, however, the webtip is again shining some light on one of the lonesome riders, one of the genius but misunderstood minds, one of the hidden figures that only step forward when being online. For these individuals, online life is an enormously interesting thing. Maybe these usually shy guys (sorry gals but the quota is about eighty per cent male) are killing abnormal hordes of Orcs when "being" a powerful Night Elve inside WoW. Others might just be the knowledgeable minds behind some online platform or run a successful forum about electronics where they provide all kinds of information to noobs while in real life the online smart asses don't even know how talk to a girl. The male-female quota is a reason This week I want to present a youtube director. Yes, you heard it. It's not even a real website anymore. You're asking why that might be the case? Plain and simple: I am running out of websites because the Internet is full of crap and about eighty per cent of it is porn anyways (does that remind anyone of the male-female quota mentioned above?). So, yeah ... I had hard times finding appropriate websites lately; therefore, I'm more than thankful for any suggestions on what to put on show and here we go:
The Amazing Atheist in action.
Ladies and gentlemen, may I introduce you to the The Amazing Atheist. Well, so far so good, but what is noticeable about this guy? Pretty much nothing to say the least. He appears to just be another online preacher who is posting video blogs about mostly anything and everything that happens to him and his simple life. However, there are couple of outstanding pieces among his 526 videos and I just want to refer to the outstandingly funny, interesting and true ones. Just to start things of and maybe draw your attention by actually getting you interested in this guy, I'll just start with the funniest movie I've seen in a couple of months. Not the happiest place on earth anymoreThe Amazing Atheist was banned from McDonalds. Well, he actually wasn't really banned but he had to leave the restaurant because he tried to start a revolution. He tried to get people to join his uprising because McDonalds ran out of ketchup. Isn't that worth a rebellion? It sure is. The fun part about the video though is how he describes the actual situation inside the world's most famous fast food restaurant and, even more important, how he pictures the reactions of people watching him rebelling against the unholy circumstance of an undersupply with ketchup. Go watch the video yourself, it is just plain crazy.
Dark clouds over the happiest place on earth b/c they ran out of ketchup.
Obviously, all (or most) of The Amazing Atheist's videos are quite interesting; therefore, I don't feel the need of actually arguing for this. Why would I put anything of no interest on show? Wouldn't that make our dear readers think we don't know what to write about anymore? Sure it would; therefore, go ahead, trust me - most of the videos, well, at least some of them are pretty amazing. Who would have thought?
The truth is somewhere out there. At least a little bit of it is in The Amazing Atheist's videos, too. I'm just going to take this one example to not bore you for too long. In his scene on positive stereotypes, he argues, in my opinion that is, quite reasonable. What he is saying is that if negative stereotypes offend the minority on spot, why aren't said minorities offended when it comes to positive stereotypes? For example, Asians are said to be rather tiny (offensive) but also smart and driven to succeed. No one would ever mind these stereotypes although not every Asian is brilliant and some will not even get a job because they might be lazy or whatevs. This is just one example the director mentions in his post but I can see his point and so will you when watching his movies. There is a clip for everyoneAmong his 500 something clips there are political as well as social statements, movie reviews and some private entries which display some of his life outside the youtube world. Some of his movies are almost an hour long but there are others which only last a couple of minutes. The action going on in most of them is rather simple, i.e. there is a guy talking; however, it is about the way he is talking and the things he is talking about. Give him his fifteen minutes of fame, he deserves them.
